Assessment
Assessment is a structured and systematic process that involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting information about an individual's psychological, cognitive, emotional, and neurological characteristics. It aims to provide a detailed picture of the individual's current functioning, identify potential issues or disorders, and inform the development of appropriate interventions and treatment plans. An assessment will be performed at the initiation of treatment in order to identify goals and inform treatment structure. These assessments are evidence based, and consequently may be required at one or more points during the treatment process to evaluate improvement and identify new targets. Although data is gathered in a variety of ways (in person, online questionnaires, etc), analysis of this data is ongoing and occurs outside of booked appointment times. Consultation with other qualified professionals may be required in order to provide the most comprehensive and accurate understanding of the individual client's needs - confidentiality and security of client data are maintained and are a key aspect of these consultations.
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy, as defined by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), is a collaborative process that involves a (registered) psychologist using their expertise to facilitate psychological change and growth in the context of a therapeutic relationship. It is grounded in evidence-based practices and tailored to the individual's unique needs and circumstances.
A psychologist, as defined by the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (CPBC), is an individual who has met the educational, training, and ethical requirements established by the college to engage in the practice of psychology. Psychologists are trained professionals who use their expertise in psychology to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of mental health and behavioral issues.
Conventional psychotherapy is provided to the client upon request and clinical need. Other forms of psychotherapy, such as transpersonal, may also be appropriate depending on the individual client and their needs.
Neurotherapy
Neurotherapy aims to address various psychoneurological conditions by promoting healthier brain function and regulation, using a variety of modalities including pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF), transcranial electric stimulation (TES), photobiomodulation (PBM), and neurofeedback, under the supervision of certified and registered clinicians.
Photobiomodulation
Use of red light and near infrared light across the entire body, to increase health and improved function of the brain and body.
